A Maverick of Intention

Be A Lion Not A Dog
A small boy was wandering in the woods and saw a monk sitting on a rock. He went up to the monk and asked him to impart a bit of wisdom.

The monk looked at the small boy and said, “My child, be a Lion, not a dog.”
Puzzled, the boy asked, “What does that mean, be a lion, not a dog?”
“When you throw a ball at a dog,” asked the monk, “what does he do?”
“The dog chases the ball,” the boy replied.

“Yes,” said the monk, “but if you threw it at the Lion, it wouldn't care at all about the ball. Its attention would be on you who threw the ball, not on the object....you. Now think about it:  if someone is throwing balls at a lion, what happens next when the lion turns to look?”
“The person throwing the ball better run away before he gets eaten,” the small boy said.

“Correct, my boy. The Lion stays put, focused on you, waiting to grab hold of you.
Confused, the small boy asked the monk, “that's a scary story, teacher, what am I supposed to learn from that other than don't throw a ball at a lion?”

“Like the lion, my friend, always focus on the source.... not the incidents, not the effects....go to the source.”

Today I want to talk about intention. Merriam-Webster defines intention as something that implies little more than what one has in mind to do or bring about. That doesn't sound very powerful. Michael Bratman wrote in "Intention, Plans, and Practical Reason" ....
A mental state that represents a commitment to carrying out an action or actions in the future. Intention involves mental activities such as planning and forethought.
That's a little stronger. In our line of work, demonstrating a fabulous life, it actually means to resolve to declare, to manifest by declaration and requirement. Ernest Holmes tells us...
We demonstrate from the tendency of our thoughts. Mindful attention to our thoughts and underlying intentions helps to clarify the tendency of our thought to demonstrate the good that we choose. Man’s thought is creative because his thought is God-power flowing through his individualized will and imagination.
But what powers the thoughts behind the intention? Feelings, yes, however, let's look at our 2020 theme:  perception. It all starts with who you perceive you are.
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.  ~Proverbs 23:7
To find out who you think you are,  take a look at the life you live, the people you surround yourself with, the boundaries you set for yourself, and most important what you say your are. For example, do you say:

I am what I have. Then possessions define you.
I am what I do.  Well then, achievements define you.
I am what others think of me.  It's your reputation defines you.
I am separate from everyone. It's a false sense of alone-ness that is defining you. Not loneliness, but the idea that you are alone in this world. See the next example for further information.
I am separate and disconnected from my desires. Victim-hood defines you. You are not understanding your connectives with the Universe. You are not practicing, and thus embodying your communion with life and the Divine within.
I am separate from God...judged and assessed by the Universe. Again, simply not true. The Divine is not Santa Claus.

You may say and think some of those things, but none are true, though they may be facts you have deemed true. It's time for a new definition of who you think you are. It's time you become a maverick!
Maverick is a word that appeals to me more than misfit. Maverick is active, misfit is passive. ~Alan Rickman
Intend to be unorthodox, independent, and non-conforming to societies b.s., but not a misfit. Yes, some of societies norms are in keeping with good character, kindness, etc. I think you know the ones I'm talking about. Are you your work, your bank account, or your stuff? No, you are a maverick manifester, an unorthodox, independent, non-conformist individualized expression of the energies of the Big Bang. That's right, accept it. Don't let anyone tell you different.

And your mind is the most powerful instrument in the Universe. We get to write or rewrite our own story everyday. Some in bits and pieces, some in large swaths of change, transformation, transcendence or uplifting upgrades. It should be fun, might take work, but should be some serious fun. Using intentions, which I believe are stronger than goals, we can become the master of our own experience. When we create mindful intentions, we daily train our minds to choose a fabulous, prosperous, healthy, creative life.
Intent is a force that exists in the universe. When sorcerers (those who live of the Source - shamans) beckon intent, it comes to them and sets up the path for attainment, which means that sorcerers always accomplish what they set out to do. ~Carlos Castaneda, The Active Side of Infinity
Our sorcery as a maverick manifester comes from the super-power called intention and the feelings that support them.
The Power that creates exists before we use It.  However, It can give us only that which we mentally take, and often our unbelief becomes our acceptance, our fear a misplaced faith.   ~Ernest Holmes, Living the Science of Mind
Now I understand that many need to immediately and some intermittently to gain clear and present certainty in rockin' those intentions. To do so:

·Match your word with your desires.  Remember, your self talk for something that hasn't shown up in the physical world yet, is not a lie, it is an intention...a decision, a declaration, a knowing that it is showing up. It is your faith in the Universal laws.

·Step into the wish fulfilled attitude, as Neville Goddard would say. Feel it through all your senses regardless of what you see on the outside.

·Refuse to let that intention disappear. Do not bend away from the intent. You may sway a bit, here and there; that's okay. Allow your intention or better to show up. Focus your thoughts on the end result your intending, resolving to occur.

·Notice all the steps, great or small that is bringing your intention to fruition with awe and gratitude. Gratitude is very important. Gratitude is a recognition of completeness and receiving.

·Remember, you live in an infinitely abundant universe. It is not miserly or incapable.  Affirm minute by minute the the Universe is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, because it can and will!

·And, per Wayne Dyer:  Be creative. Be kind. Be love. Be beauty. Be ever-expansive. Be abundant in mind. Be receptive.

Is receptivity not happening too clearly today? That's okay, try this idea for connection:

When you are in a bus or subway, if standing you are standing, you hold on to the strap or bar for balance, security, and safety in reaching your destination. If you can't reach it, as would a child, you still hold on to a parent or friend for balance. But as a child, do you remember just imagining you were holding on to that strap? Use the strength of a child's imagination now. When you are in doubt, envision this strap, just like when you were little, see it in your mind and grab it. Hold on tight and allow the safety and security flow in. Imagination and feelings have a huge influence on your intentions. Use them without abandon! Remember, the strap is connected to the train of the flowing power of intention taking you to the belief and putting you in the flow of manifestation.

A Call to Action
Dormant forces, faculties, and talents come alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be. ~Patanjali, author of the Yoga Sutras
Setting a powerful and mindful intention is the first step to bringing forth the demonstration of it in your world of experience, it is how thoughts become things. To be a maverick, you don't have to be a well-dressed dandy and high-stakes poker player in the wild west like James Garner as Bret Maverick. And you don't have to be a hotshot fighter pilot with a reckless attitude and cocky demeanor like Tom Cruise in "Top Gun."  You can be a maverick by clearing a path for a definite and measurable intentional demonstration of faith you pay attention to.

Don’t create a life by default or statistics, nurture your intentions with awareness. Be in harmony with the power which is responsible for all of creation – hold on to that strap!

Be bold, brave, independent, and inclusive; knowing the abundance of the Universe is at hand.

Be open at the top and out of the box in your imagery of the demonstration
When the time comes that nothing goes forth from you other than that which you would be glad to have return, then you will have reached your heaven.  ~Ernest Holmes, This Thing Called You
It is said that a maverick is an unbranded calf, free to roam and experience life to the fullest. Well, I am branding you one who is bold, brave, clear, and present with certainty:

You Are a Maverick of Intention

You Are a Maverick Manifester
Step Into Your Heaven Now
